Continuing Professional Development

We are happy to discuss professional development with individual or groups of schools and are happy to create bespoke professional development to meet your needs. Below are some of the opportunities we have available.

FREE, FULLY FUNDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY GRANT FUNDING

Are you a male teacher in Key Stage 1 or Early Years or a female teacher in a secondary school?

Do you want to take a step into school leadership within the next 12/18 months?

We have been successful in securing a grant from the Department of Education to develop a leadership workforce that is reflective of the diversity of the teaching population within schools.

The funding have two key aims:

  • To develop a leadership workforce that is reflective of the diversity of the teaching population within schools.
  • To develop systems that support equitable and fair access to opportunity, and develop talented individuals from a range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

The programme consists of 4 elements:

1. A leadership development programme

2. A school improvement project

3. In school coaching sessions - see coaching programme here

4. Contextual school visits

Dudley Deputies and Assistant Head Programme

The programme aims to provide a series of professional development opportunities, which we
hope meet your individual needs, regardless of whether you are new to post, an experienced deputy or are now looking for headship.  The programme is aimed at senior leaders working in primary, secondary, special and the short stay school service.

The development programme includes a range of workshops, professional learning walks and a leadership conference aimed to support assistant heads and deputy heads in their role. Participants can register onto as many of these workshops as they need. Places are limited though, so book early.

Please see further details of the programme here.

PREVENT - Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP)

Here at Hales Valley Teaching School we have a number of staff that have been trained by the Home Office to deliver the WRAP training for school. Currently, we have trained over 2,000 staff from over 75 schools in the area.

The statutory guidance refers to the importance of Prevent awareness training to equip staff to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and to challenge extremist ideas.

As a minimum, schools should ensure that the Designated Safeguarding Lead undertakes Prevent awareness training and is able to provide advice and support to other members of staff on protecting children from the risk of radicalisation.

(The Prevent Duty, 2015, DfE)

We run termly sessions for individual staff at the teaching school. Alternatively, for larger groups we can come out to schools to deliver the session. Please see further information here.

Newly/Recently Qualified Teacher (NQT/RQT)/ Provision

This year we will be running a series of workshops across the year to support the induction of newly qualified teachers and the ongoing professional development of recently qualified teachers.

Please see flyer for further information about workshop themes, dates and costs here.
